Energy, ideas, and ambition filled the air at the Young Entrepreneurs Business Summit held on 10th April, 2026.
The event, organized by the Project Liam Foundation in collaboration with the TUM Student Association, was officially opened by the Dean of Students, Mr. Joel Awino, representing the Vice Chancellor.
In his address, the Dean described the summit as “a significant and exciting moment” for the university, emphasizing that it represents “a powerful investment in the future of our students and the broader society.” He noted that “innovation, creativity, and adaptability are key drivers of success” in today’s world and stressed the need for universities to go beyond academic instruction by equipping students with practical skills. Encouraging active participation, he urged students to “engage with our trainers, ask questions, and take full advantage of this opportunity,” adding that such platforms are essential in shaping graduates who are not only knowledgeable but capable of becoming job creators.
Dr Fred Akama, Founder and Director of Project Liam Foundation, delivered an overview of the Young Entrepreneurs Ignite Program, outlining how it supports students from the ideation stage through to business development. He highlighted key components such as identifying customers, managing finances, preparing pitch decks, and presenting to potential investors, and noted that the most viable student business from TUM will receive seed funding of KSh 100,000 to accelerate its growth.
Moji Shortbaba, a performing artist and content creator, spoke on identifying market gaps and opportunities, encouraging students to transform everyday problems and complaints into viable business ideas.
Timeless Noel, a performing artist, focused on customer-centric innovation, emphasizing the importance of understanding target audiences and designing solutions that respond directly to their needs. He also entertained the audience with a live performance during the session.
Willis Raburu, a media personality and CEO of Wabebe XP, addressed entrepreneurial storytelling, highlighting how effectively communicating a business idea can influence its reception, growth, and impact.
The summit also featured student presentations, an interactive question and answer session, and a lively entertainment session.
