In a major boost to student experience and campus operations, the Technical University of Mombasa (TUM) has unveiled two new modern buses; a 67-seater and a 33-seater from Isuzu, marking a significant step in strengthening student mobility and enhancing the quality of transport services across the University.
The buses, designed for comfort, durability, and fuel efficiency, are expected to enhance the safety, convenience, and efficiency of student transport, while marking a strengthened phase in the University’s transport capacity.
The milestone was marked by the presence of the University’s top management, led by Vice Chancellor Laila Abubakar, who expressed delight at the full acquisition of the two buses, describing it as a major milestone in advancing student services and campus operations.
University Council members were also present, led by Paul Mwasaru Mwazumbo, who echoed the celebratory tone and urged students to take responsibility for the proper use and maintenance of the vehicles to ensure they continue serving both present and future generations.
In addition to the two buses, the University has also acquired a Toyota Fortuner and two RAV4 vehicles, bringing the total number of vehicles acquired since 2024 to five.
This development aligns with TUM’s Strategic Plan 2023–2027, which targets the acquisition of 10 vehicles to support institutional operations and service delivery.
