On Friday afternoon, the Technical University of Mombasa (TUM) community gathered to honour Collins Ouma Sewe for the remarkable achievement of publishing an inspirational book titled "Breakthrough Within Church Corridors." The book launch was organized by the University library and was attended by distinguished deans, staff members, Collins' family, and the book's publisher, Mohammed Onyango from 'Vijana Network'. The esteemed guest of honour was Professor Laila, who has closely witnessed Collins' incredible journey.

Collins Sewe is a familiar figure at TUM. Renowned for his unwavering dedication and commitment, many have encountered him through his entrepreneurial ventures such as selling groundnuts and peanut butter, which he diligently delivers to various staff members at TUM.

During the event, several staff members commended Collins for his exceptional drive and determination. Professor Laila proudly declared that Collins is a testament to the power of hard work and resilience. She took the opportunity to urge the younger generation to step out of their comfort zones and create their opportunities, rather than solely relying on existing systems.

In a heartfelt address, Collins briefly shared his journey from his enrollment at the Technical University of Mombasa in 2015 to pursue a course in Procurement and Material Management at the Faculty of Business and Economics. Following his graduation, he secured a job at TUM as a cleaner. Through relentless effort, he gradually advanced to maintaining the university's premises, washrooms, lecture halls, and eventually the Procurement office, initially as an office assistant and later as a clerk.

Despite his consistent promotions and dedicated service, his tenure at the institution was abruptly curtailed when his contract ended. Subsequently, he turned to manual labour in the construction industry, traversing long distances from Kisauni to Shanzu for work. However, his toil was in vain when the foreman disappeared with their wages after two weeks, leaving Collins grappling with stress and despondency. Undeterred, Collins delved into farming and experimented with various business ventures, including selling boiled eggs.

In the face of hardship, Collins sought solace in the church, wholeheartedly dedicating himself to the ministry and actively participating in diverse church activities and missions. It was during this period that his breakthroughs began to unfold, guided by spiritual revelations. Balancing his church duties with his entrepreneurial pursuits, Collins has emerged as a revered figure in society, serving as a preacher and speaker at ACK Mombasa Memorial Cathedral. He has garnered invaluable experience in ministry and also fulfills roles as a mentor, entrepreneur, and financial advisor at Britam Insurance.

Amidst moments of lightheartedness, Collins deeply inspired the audience with his remarkable story. Professor Laila, filled with immense pride, became the first purchaser of ten copies of his book. As the guests departed the venue, they carried with them a testimony of faith, perseverance, and diligence.

Sewe, a devoted family man with two children, has intricately detailed his gripping journey of faith and hope in his book "Breakthrough Within Church Corridors."  A copy of the book is priced at 1000/= each. You can reach Collins at 0714357222/0755072284.
