A sombre atmosphere filled the Technical University of Mombasa today as colleagues, family, friends, and union leaders came together to bid a final farewell to Celina Idza Malingi during a prayer service and body viewing held ahead of her burial. The ceremony brought together the Vice Chancellor, the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic, Research and Extension), the Registrar (Administration and Planning), the Registrar (Academic Affairs), members of staff, and the Malingi family to celebrate a life dedicated to service.
Ms. Malingi, a dedicated staff member in the Registry Department, served the University with exceptional commitment and professionalism. Since joining the institution in 1997, she faithfully carried out her responsibilities, playing a vital role in ensuring the proper processing and issuance of academic certificates. Through her integrity, diligence, and strong work ethic, she earned the respect and admiration of colleagues and students alike.
During the memorial service, colleagues, union representatives, friends, and family paid heartfelt tributes to Ms. Malingi, remembering her as a humble, dependable, and compassionate person. She was described as a devoted wife, a punctual and dedicated employee, and someone who treated everyone with respect and warmth. Her welcoming smile, gentle spirit, and ability to build meaningful relationships made her a cherished member of the University community.
As family, friends, colleagues, and loved ones prepare to lay her to rest tomorrow at her home in Kilifi County, the Technical University of Mombasa joins them in celebrating a life well lived and a legacy of service that will continue to inspire generations. Her contributions to the University and the lives she touched will never be forgotten.
Though she is no longer with us, her dedication, kindness, and unwavering commitment to service will forever remain part of the University's story.
May her soul rest in eternal peace.
