AGIAMONDO was initially founded in Germany and began its work in Kenya in 2009 in response to the post-election violence. The organization, which is primarily faith-based, aims to contribute to peacebuilding and development through the Civil Peace Service (ZFD). Its vision is to promote a fair, supportive, and globally connected world. Over the years, AGIAMONDO has collaborated with both local and international partners, focusing on the implementation of peacebuilding projects, strengthening existing peace structures, and enhancing knowledge on conflict analysis.
In her remarks, Ms. Karanja explained that the workshop aims to equip the participants with technical skills, enrich their project ideas, and prepare them to actively engage in AGIAMONDO’s initiatives under the proposed Center for Religion, Conflict, and Peacebuilding. The workshop allowed department staff to discuss pertinent matters related to the objectives of the TUM-AGIAMONDO collaboration. The discussions focused on several key areas: designing the project to meet the evolving needs of the Bachelor of Conflict and Security Programme, developing a Master's in Conflict and Security Programme, strengthening community outreach and partnerships in religious peacebuilding initiatives, and ensuring the sustainability of the programme.
Mr. Martin Odhiambo, Chairperson of the Department of Social Sciences, highlighted the importance of the program, stating that it will significantly enhance his department by strengthening and advancing the peace and conflict studies program.
