Joint Community -University Security Management Meeting Held Today
The 18th August, 2021, At the Deputy County Commissioner Office,
CBD, Mombasa.
The Technical University of Mombasa, in collaboration with the Deputy County Commissioner, convened a meeting at the County Commissioner's office in Mombasa to chart a way for TUM students to co-exist with the general public. When new students arrive in September 2021-2022, they will be assisted to settle into the University and its environs.
The meeting's agenda included issues such as student safety, drug and drug peddlers, terrorism awareness and safety training for staff and students, the progress on the Mazuri land encroachment report, and collaboration between TUM fraternity and the community living around and within the TUDOR Creek environs.
This joint venture between TUM and the Deputy County Commissioner bore fruit with a committee being constituted and members from all the relevant variant groups/party involved be vetted and appointed to start working immediately.
Present at the meeting were eight members of the County Security and Intelligence Committee, led by Mombasa County Deputy Commissioner, Mr. Martin Mbae, and seven members from the Technical University of Mombasa, led by Vice Chancellor Prof. Laila Abubakar and the legal representative Lawyer Mr. Charles Opulu.
