At least 500 TUM students benefitted from a highly insightful career talk organized by the University’s TUM Institute of Computing and Informatics (ICI).
ICI’s Deputy Director Dr Kevin Tole, spearheaded the event with support of his colleagues. They mobilized several professionals from the corporate world who shared great tips with our students.
Mr Dennis Solika, the Team Leader of Cable Landing Station at Telkom Kenya Ltd, delivered a talk on the importance of flexibility in transitioning traffic from Kenya to the global network. The aim was to equip students with knowledge that would help them become experts in current trends.
The students also received comprehensive training from Mr Eric Tinego, from Technical Operations Engineering at Bayabab Africa Ltd, and Mr Robert Kiruki, focusing on areas such as Internet and Routing. The duo made it clear to the students that the industry demands only practical and viable ideas hence one should position him/herself accordingly.
Another mentor Miss Georgina Wambui, a Sub-Sea NOC Engineer at Telkom Kenya Ltd, highlighted the endless opportunities that the internet brings in this field. She therefore urged them to be up to speed with trends in that sub-sector.
The primary objective of the event was to educate and empower students with the necessary skills and mindset to unlock their future potential and prepare them for the ever-evolving challenges in the technology landscape.
