In a jubilant celebration of artistic prowess and dedication, the Drama Club of the Technical University of Mombasa (TUM) recently showcased their award-winning performance in the university's assembly hall. The special audience? None other than the esteemed Vice Chancellor, Prof. Laila Abubakar.

The Kiswahili Play named 'Daraja' is about an evil mother who insights her children against their father, to their detriment. The performance highlighted the importance of not burning bridges, in this case, the father and head of the family.

This exceptional display of talent was dedicated to honour the club's outstanding achievement at the National Drama Festivals, where they secured three prestigious trophies. The club clinched victory in the Kiswahili play category, alongside the accolades for the 'Most Disciplined Team' and the 'Best Actor and Actress' awards.

With a dedicated troupe of 35 members, the Drama Club captivated the audience and left an indelible mark on Prof. Abubakar, who was visibly impressed by their commitment and talent. In response to their stellar performance and triumphs, Prof. Laila Abubakar assured the club of her unwavering support whenever needed, promising to stand by them in their future endeavours.

Expressing her admiration and gratitude for their hard work, Prof. Abubakar also presented the club with a small token of appreciation, acknowledging their dedication to the art form and their significant contributions to the university's cultural landscape.

The TUM Drama Club's success not only resonates within the university but also serves as an inspiration to aspiring performers and underscores the importance of nurturing artistic talent within academic institutions. As they continue to shine on the national stage, their achievements stand as a testament to the power of creativity, discipline, and teamwork.
