On February 17th, the TUM Institute of Maritime and Seafaring Studies hosted a distinguished delegation from the Comoros Maritime Affairs Agency (Agence Nationale des Affaires Maritimes - ANAM) led by their Director General, Chief Engineer Mohammed Said. The agenda for the day included discussions aimed at positioning TUM as a center for training seafarers from Comoros and creating tailor made Maritime English programs for the staff and technicians at the Maritime Agency.

During their visit, the delegation toured the university's facilities and workshops related to Nautical Science and Marine Engineering. This was followed by a presentation from Capt. Suleiman, who is an Adjunct Senior Lecturer and Chair of the Institute’s Maritime Research, Innovation, and Liaison Committee, as well as Captain Talib Ibrahim, the Director of the Institute. With their robust expertise as the President of The Association of Maritime Practitioners (Kenya) and Vice President- Nautical, respectively, the two took the delegation through the thorough training and regiments programs at TUM.

An executive meeting was conducted with the Vice Chancellor of TUM, as well as representatives from the Maritime Organization for Eastern, Southern, and Northern Africa (MOESNA) and the Port Management Association of Eastern and Southern Africa (PMAESA). A key outcome of this meeting was the signing of a collaboration agreement.

This agreement marks a significant step towards deepening the partnership between TUM, ANAM, MOESNA, and PMAESA which plays into one of the key objectives of the institute which is Provision of continuous professional development for maritime practitioners at the academic and industry specialisation levels. The Agreement sets the pace for TUM as  a global centre of excellence in Maritime Education and Training.
