TUM's graduate engineer, Mr Aggrey Shitsukane Shisiali, has emerged as the overall winner of the Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) National Outstanding Researchers Awards in the Physical Sciences, Technology, and Innovation category. 

Eng Shitsukane was recognized for his groundbreaking scientific discoveries and achievements, particularly in the field of electrical and electronics engineering within the TVET sector. 

Shitsukane holds a senior technologist position in the Electrical and Electronic Engineering Department at TUM.

At the same time, a TUM's don Prof Francis Mutuku was awarded a certificate of recognition as an outstanding national researcher in the Biological Sciences, Technology, and Innovation category. 

The National Outstanding Researchers Awards are used to recognize exceptional Kenyan researchers for their contributions to economic transformation through innovative research. The goal is to inspire the next generation to pursue research careers.

The prestigious awards were presented by the Chair of the Jury, the Chair of the National Research Fund (NRF), and the Cabinet Secretary of the Ministry of Education represented by Mr Fredrick Ndambuki.

The National Research Fund is established under the Science Technology and Innovation Act 2013 for the purpose of promoting research in science, technology, and innovation, supporting scientific research and innovation initiatives, and maintaining a national database of research and innovation in Kenya.
