The TUM Career Services Office, in collaboration with the KCB Foundation, hosted a regional tertiary transition workshop today at the TUM Assembly Hall. The attendees were the 2025 KCSE graduates from the Coast region who had excelled academically and are beneficiaries of the KCB Foundation Scholars Programme.
The event was officially opened by Dr. Juliana Asser, Director of TUM Career Services, who introduced the university and highlighted its various schools and departments. Following the introduction, the KCB Foundation team led the workshop, mentoring students on career choices, while respective officials in attendance guided them on course applications and financial aid opportunities through KUCCPS and HEF.
"We aim to guide them on career planning, as this is a critical stage for students to understand themselves in terms of their passions, performance, and available higher education opportunities," Benson Masero, Manager of KCB Tertiary Programmes, stated. He also highlighted that this workshop will be replicated in other regions, targeting about 940 students who are expected to transition to university this year.
Several KCB Scholars at TUM also shared brief remarks on the importance of this opportunity and how it is preparing them for university life. At the end of the workshop, students had the chance to visit the various TUM departmental desks and engage with lecturers, asking questions about courses and potential career pathways.
This initiative reflects TUM’s commitment to supporting students’ smooth transition into higher education while aligning with the KCB Foundation’s mission to empower communities through education and promote sustainable development.
