Lamu County Governor HE.Issa Timamy has pledged to support students studying at the Technical University of Mombasa Lamu campus to boost enrolment.

Speaking at Mwana Arafa Hall during the inaugural Lamu Students Community-Based Organisation students' dinner gala the governor committed that through his leadership the county will ensure that students will receive finances to pursue courses at TUM Lamu campus.

“I will consider all students coming from Lamu County to achieve their education needs within the institution,” he said.

The governor noted that the provision of bursaries will helretain students at the institution while enhancing its sustainability. 

He also commended students for their efforts in promoting the campus and urged more students from the community to enroll for programs.

TUM Lamu Campus Director Bozo Jenje urged the local community to embrace higher education opportunities available at the institution, highlighting the benefits to the community and non-governmental organisations.

In his remarks, the director assured partners that programmes offered at the Technical University of Mombasa are globally recognisedcompetitive and added that studying at the Lamu Campus is cost-effective and refrain students from insecurity.

During the event, TUM Lamu Campus student leader Yumna Malim lauded Governor Timamy for his stewardship in recognising the students' efforts and collaboration towards the success of the students’ gala event.

“Since you value education, we can see your hand and contribution towards the education sector's prosperity,” she said.

The event was attended by alumni, the County Executive Committee Member for Finance, Mohammed Bwana, Chief Executive Officer for Lamu Women Alliance, Raya Famau Ahmed, and Lamu Education Chief Officer Hafswa Diffin
