French Ambassador to Kenya HE Arnaud Suquet says his embassy is willing and ready to partner with the Technical University of Mombasa for exchange programs.

He noted that TUM is a Center of excellence in technical training not only in the Coast Region but also in Kenya at large hence the French embassy feels good to be associated with it.

The envoy was speaking when he paid a courtesy call at TUM on Tuesday October 3, 2023. He said the envisaged exchange program would involve both staff and students.

"There are many opportunities for young people in France and I would like to encourage the youth to apply, especially scholarship opportunities so they can further their education," Mr Suquet said.

He also encouraged TUM students to take advantage of French classes offered at Mazrui Centre in order to access more opportunities in France.

Deputy Vice Chancellor Academics Research and Extension Prof Peter Gichangi, who received the envoy, said TUM is one of the oldest technical institution in Kenya offering technical courses that give the youth unique opportunities to sharpen their skills.

Prof Gichangi said TUM has well trained human resource and facilities to prepare students for the job market.

“Our programmes range from Certificate, Diploma, Degree, Master Degree and PhD. We have Kwale and Lamu sites. Students in those counties can easily access higher education," he told the ambassador, adding that:.

"We also have TUM TVET institute where students can pursue short courses in various fields through artisan certificates and Diploma Courses."

In attendance were, DVC AFP Prof Joseph Rasowo and Acting Registrar Partnerships, Research and Innovation Dr Sylvia Mutua.
