TUM has rare talent in Performing Arts. Much as the institution is associated with TVET it has students drawn from all Faculties to form ‘TEAM KUBWA’, TUM’s Drama Club. This year the team did TUM proud at the Kenya Nationals Drama and Film Festival held in Bungoma County from 3rd to 13th of April 2019 at Kibabii University.

A total of thirty one (31) Universities across the country participated at the event. The Drama group represented TUM very well and the results were outstanding. Among the items presented were a Kiswahili play ‘Vilipuzi’, written by Yusuf Dalu and Co-Directed by Daniel Mwaringa and a Documentary Feature - ‘Against the Grain’ done by our very own student in the Communication Studies Department, Samuel Namukhana. The play whose theme was advocacy against negative misuse of social media, besides winning the best Kiswahili play was awarded the best play in advocating for generation and use of clean content on the internet. Other awards for the play included: the ‘Best ‘Comedy’ and the ‘Best Production Design’.

On the other hand, our Feature Documentary on encouraging women in TVET was awarded the second best overall. Other awards for the film included: ‘Best Producer Award’, ‘Best Presentation’, ‘Best Director Award’, ‘Best Documentary Feature’ and ‘Best Cinematography’. They say the sky is the limit but for TUM it is way over and above the clouds.
