The Media duo weathered through stiff competition beating several pairs of contenders in last weeks polls held on Campus to replace Douglas Kavesi and Kiplagat Koech whose one year term has since expired.

The new administration took oath of office early this week at Kiziwi at a ceremony witnessed by Acting VC Prof Laila Abubakar, DVC Raphael Mutuku, Legal Officer Sarah Okumu, Acting Finance Officer Alfred Indeche, University Counsellor Madiha Salim among others.

Fourth Year Civil Engineering’s Derrick Nyasimi takes over the powerful Secretary General docket from outgoing Cyrus Nderitu while BCOM’s Lokuta Ewoi becomes Secretary for Special Needs.

Gender Affairs Secretary will be held by Mass Communication’s Gladys Njeri, Civil Engineering’s Cosmas Kipkoech Mutai assumes Secretary Accommodation powers while Mechanical Engineering Owino Samson Ochieng will be at the Sports & Entertainment helm.

Mercy Osebe from Mechanical & Automotive assumes powers of Finance Secretary, Jomo N Kelvin Secretary will be in charge of Academics and External Affairs with Business Administration’s Nicholas Mwawasi being Secretary for Sports and Social Affairs.

Also sworn in were Business Administration’s Shiala Franklyline and Maureen Awour who will be enjoying the trappings of power at Kwale Campus as Governor and Deputy Governor respectively.

Laila who urged the new office holders to keep up their predecessors spirit that saw no unrest witnessed in the 2016/2017 academic year warned against exam cheating saying such misconduct could lead to expulsion.

“We never witnessed even a single riot in 2016/2017 academic year. It is my hope that you will keep up the spirit and engage your colleagues on realizing the value of maintaining integrity in the exam room when the time comes,” she said.
