Technical University of Mombasa is committed to the highest standards of corporate governance and ethics in the discharge of its functions. In the performance of its governance role, the Council included a visit to Lamu as part of its oversight duty on the Campus and in efforts to identify strategic collaborations. The visit took place on 12th -14th July 2021. 

On 12th July 2021, the Council met with the Board of the Lamu Vocational Training Centre (LVTC) and discussed further collaborations with regard to access to higher education for students undertaking vocational courses. 

 

They further met with Students and Staff of the Campus and deliberated over issues of concern to both parties. 

On 13th July 2021, the Council met with various Stakeholders in efforts to achieve strategic collaborations in the interest of the University. Top on the agenda was identifying land for construction of the Lamu Campus. The Council met with the County Commissioner, Lamu; the Deputy Governor, County Government of Lamu; the Regional Manager, LAPSSET and the Kenya Red Cross Innovation Lab. The meetings were fruitful with the Director Lamu Campus being directed to make a follow up on the planned collaboration areas for implementation. 

The visit culminated in the Council holding its 35th meeting on 14th July 2021, at the Lamu Campus.
